Smile! You’re on Candied Camera!
Hi, there! Welcome to Candyland and my brand-spanking new design blog. First off, sorry about the name puns, but I just cannot help it! A #1, my name is Candy Crane. It has been a blessing and a curse my entire life. And yes, since I know you were wondering, my mother knew full well what she was doing when she named me. Once that handsome Crane fella had put a ring on it, she was fully intent on naming her daughter Candy. … Cut to all these years later, when I started my interior design business, I decided to fully embrace it — hence the name: Peppermint! … Plus, in addition to being a pretty cute name with a huge high five for branding (IMO) and an amazeballs logo by my always bestie and bogglingly talented Jennifer, I thought it embodied my personality and, accordingly, my design style: sweet, “spicy” and fresh!
(Fun fact: My dad wanted to name me Katrina. weird.)
SO, right, sorry, that was an immediate tangent. As I was saying, WELCOME! I started an interior design blog! I’m glad you’re here. I hope you’ll find something helpful — or at least humorous — here. I’ve been wanting to start this blog for a long, long time, but it just kept getting pushed to the back burner in favor of work and more work or maybe, oh! MORE WORK. Then life. And life. Rinse and repeat. … Also, if I’m being honest, part of the procrastination is the *huge* ball of anxiety about what could I possibly have to say that anyone other than my immediate family would want to read about! But, this is important to my business, life’s short and sometimes you just need to suck it up, put on your big-girl panties and put yourself out there.
I plan to share some pretty pictures, thoughts and insights on my interior design projects (including my own never-ending passion project); products I love; some “how-do-I” posts for you DIYers; some “how-I-do” posts for those behind-the-scenes curiosity seekers; cats (I really do love kitties); life in general; and probably more than a few pictures of my ridiculously adorable nieces. So, yeah, basically, all kinds of good stuff!
OK, time for me to get on the road and head back to the ATL after a long weekend visiting family for my dad’s 79th birthday. Time is precious when your loved ones reach that kind of age, and although it means the rest of the week is going to be hella crazy, it was worth it to be here.
Well, that’s it for now. Check back soon for my next post!
